Fred Harris Essay on James Baldwin in Transition Magazine

CAAPS Director Fredrick Harris' essay "James Baldwin, 1963, and the House that Race Built" is featured in the recent edition of Transition: The Magazine of Africa and the Disapora. Although the activism of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X continues to receive the most attention, Harris argues that James Baldwin is better situated to explain why black Americans continue to be pressed to the margins of American society.
